Lloyd A. Faulkner
Dr. Lloyd Anson Faulkner was born in Faribault, Minnesota in September of 1862, the son of Jennie and Harrison Faulkner, a carpenter. In addition to his medical practice he operated a business which he called his "Natural Science Establishment," in Duluth, Minnesota. His ad appeared in The Naturalist's Directory in 1896. According to the ad, he sold agates from the Two Harbors area, zeolite minerals and thompsonite from near Grand Marais, chlorastrolite from Isle Royal (Michigan), iron minerals (probably from the Minnesota Iron Range), copper minerals (probably mostly from the Michigan copper country), gold in quartz from Rainy Lake, and "thousands of other specimens from these parts." He gave his address as 19 East Superior Street in downtown Duluth.
L.A. Faulkner, MD, is also listed in the 1898 and 1905 editions (at the same address), but not before or after 1896-1905. However, he does not appear anywhere in the 1900 census for Duluth or for St. Louis County. Lloyd A. Faulkner, physician and surgeon, does appear with his wife and children in St. Paul, Minnesota, living with his wife Anna O'Connell's brother. On the 1900 census for Duluth, there is another physician (chiropractor and general practitioner), Oscar T. Mitchell, living at the 19 E. Superior address--perhaps a partner of Faulkner, who may simply have been visiting his wife's family in St.Paul at the time of the census taker's visit. Lloyd A. Faulkner, physician, does appear in Duluth in the 1890-1892 Duluth City Directory, as well as the 1889-1891 St. Paul City Directory, so he may have maintained two offices simultaneously. On the 1910 Minnesota census he appears twice, in Mankato (April 25) and then in Sibley (July 18), and in 1930 he appears once again in St.Paul.
Dr. Lloyd A. Faulkner died in Mendota Heights, Minnesota on December 18, 1933.
