Sue Malinski

Sue Malinski was born in _____, ______ on ____, 19__, the daughter of Cecile Catherine (Kline) and Alfred Willis Storer, realtors and later gem miners. The Storers moved to Arizona in 1952 and opened The Rock Hobby store in Phoenix and The House of Amethyst stores in Scottsdale and later in Fountain Hills. Alfred died in 1994 and Cecile and Sue (and The House of Amethyst) moved to Payson, Arizona in 2003. Since then Sue has been the owner and operator of the Art & Antique Corral and Western Village, 1104 S. Beeline Highway in Payson, Arizona.

The Western Village stores actually function as a cowboy museum, as well as dealing in cowboy memorabilia, cowboy clothing, books on Western history and lore ("Barn Door Books"), Indian artifacts, antiques and collectibles. Attached to the main store is Cecile's House of Amethyst mineral shop, taken over by Sue when her mother died in 2005. The shop offers primarily crystal specimens but also some jewelry items. Sue is an accomplished artist, and some of her works are on also view. (Her book A Touch of Indian; Paintings and Prose, was published in 1978.) Nearby is The Chuck Wagon, a barbecue restaurant operated by Sue's son Andy.

Sue's parents purchased the Four Peaks amethyst mine in the Mazatzal Mountains of central Arizona in 1963, and many amethyst specimens and cuts stones are available in her shop. Although the Storers sold the mine n 1972, Sue still works with the current owners in marketing the gemstones and crystal specimens. In recent years the Four Peaks Mining Company has launched a joint effort with the Commercial Mineral Company to operate the mine; gemstones are cut and faceted in Bangkok, Thailand.
