Franz Wiedemann
(1832-1913)

Franz Wiedemann (born in 1832, and perhaps related to Feodor Wiedemann, a mineral dealer in Chemnitz) was a mineral dealer in Munich, Germany. Actually, according to his labels, he was a "Chem.-pharm. & phys. Utensil." dealer, presumably meaning a supplier of chemical and pharmaceutical materials and scientific instruments. The company is known as early as 1875, when Franz Wiedemann was the sole proprietor. In 1896 his son, Franz Jr. (1862-1944), took over the business, and by 1928 it was under the management of Franz and Hans Wiedemann. Joining eventually with Julius Bohm, the company became known as "Bohm & Wiedemann." Today there is a Franz Wiedemann in Munich, at Hochäckerstr. 20; could it be the same dealership.
