Walter Kahn
(1911-    )

Walter Richard Kahn of Bayersoien, Germany was a mine manager at the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, and a well-known collector and dealer specializing in the minerals of Tsumeb. The new Tsumeb species warikahnite was named in recognition of his financial support of mineralogical research on Tsumeb minerals. His collection of approximately 6,000 specimens was bequeathed to the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany in 1982.

Walter Kahn's daughter, Uta-Ulrike Kahn, has continued the family tradition of collecting and dealing in Tsumeb specimens. She has managed a mineral dealership (Kahn Mineralien KG) in Hannover since 1976. In 2006 she donated her personal collection of 70 specimens to the Technical University in Braunschweig.
