J. G. Wainwright
Jonathan Gilbert Wainwright was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 26, 1862, the son of Mary Amelia Gilbert and Jonathan Wainwright; both father and son are listed in the 1900 Waukegan, Illinois census as a "manufacturer." Other census records indicate that they made ink and ink pads, but their products appear to have changed over the years.
J. G. Wainwright offered for sale a "fine collection of 250 species of minerals" through his ads in The Exchanger's Monthly from 1885 to 1890. He married Nora Smith in 1903, but by 1910 she had died and he had moved back in with his mother. In 1920 he was manufacturing shower baths in his own factory. By 1930 he had become the proprietor of an auto repair shop. He died on March 31, 1935.
