Institut National Agronomique

The French National Agronomics Institute was founded in Paris in 1876. It merged in 1971 with the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique of Grignon (founded 1826) to form the Paris-Grignon National Agronomics Institute, a publicly-funded higher education and research institute which is today one of France's ten leading "grandes écoles" (engineering schools). The main focus of the institute is the life sciences, agriculture and the food industry, but it did also have a Geology Department, or at least a geological laboratory, and a mineral collection at one time (though no longer).
