John R. Ydren
(1932-2008)

John Robertson Ydren was born in Costa Mesa, California on December 17, 1932, the son of Gladys Esther Harvey and John Ydren (1888-1977), a painter for a paint company and later the owner of the Art Glass Shoppe in Long Beach.

John R. Ydren operated Ydren Realty in Sierra Madre, California during the 1960s and 1970s (and probably later). He was a good friend and collecting partner of Burton Jirgl (1930-1986). Ydren's collection was purchased by Rock Currier (Jewel Tunnel Imports) and Rob Lavinsky (The Arkenstone). His collection must have been quite large, as catalog numbers on his labels go well past 5,000. His labels are of simple generic design without any name on them. John R. Ydren died January 4, 2008 in Costa Mesa.
