George E.  Masimer
(1917-1968)

George E. Masimer was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1917, the son of Rosa A. Johnson and George H. Masimer, a farmer. Eventually he moved to South Pasadena, California, where he became involved in mineralogy. He wrote articles for Gems & Minerals magazine, including "Inclusions in quartz crystals from De Luz, California" (1965) and "Tick Canyon revisited" (1966). He was also co-author of a 40-page booklet on The Minerals of Boron, California (1960), published by the Mineral Research Society of California. He was a member of the Mineralogical Society of America, and a Director of Southwest Mineralogists, Inc. (in 1954). He died at the age of 50, on October 8, 1968, in Los Angeles County, California. His labels are identified only as "The Masimer Collection."
