C. E. Bolton

Unknown. The now-discredited mineral boltonite was named after the locality of Bolton, Massachusetts (incorporated in 1738) by C. U. Shepard in 1835. By 1889 it was recognized as forsterite. How "C. E, Bolton" is connected remains unknown, but at least the label gives the correct type locality, despite the abbreviation of Massachusetts as "Ms." The New York collector John Caswell (qv) is known to have obtained specimens from C. E. Bolton.
