Morton L. Jandorf
(1889-1945)

Morton L. Jandorf of York, Pennsylvania was born in New York in 1889 and is listed as a jewelry merchant on the 1930 census for York, where he lived on South Arlington Street with his wife Mabel (married in 1915) and daughter Betty (born 1920). He had a mineral collection and, as a jeweler and lapidary, he probably also dealt in mineral specimens on the side. He was an educated man, and an occasional author in early volumes of the American Mineralogist. Jandorf sold his mineral collection to Peter Zodac, who announced it available for resale in December 1926:

"The collection embraces some 5,000 specimens, including many choice crystals, crystallized minerals, rare minerals, etc., being especially rich in rare minerals. Many of the specimens are original minerals from such type localities as Goldfield, Tonopah, etc. Also rich in Pennsylvania minerals."

Jandorf died in York on 21 December 1945.
