Richard L. Callahan was born in Washington State on July 1, 1909. He moved to southern California and worked in a commercial photo processing laboratory in the 1960's. He also ran his small gem and mineral business, called Callahan's Gems & Minerals, out of his house in South Pasadena. He was a member of the Mineralogical Society of Southern California. He later moved to Torrance, California, but returned to South Pasadena where he died on November 24, 1976. Nice benitoite sketch on his label.
