Lee S. Areson
(1916-1987)

Leon S. "Lee" Areson was born in Middletown, New York on May 14, 1916, the son of Pearl M. and Charles Areson, a farmer (1920) and grocery distributor (1930). Lee married Jennie L. ____ some time before 1946, and they had a son: Lee S. Areson, II. Lee and Jennie loved to sing, and often sang duets together in church. They were mineral dealers in Middletown, New York, under the company name of Mineral Showcase. They operated what they called a "free educational non-profit museum," and specialized in the minerals of Franklin, New Jersey (and hand-wrought silver jewelry). Lee died in Middletown on July 28, 1987, and Jennie died September 1, 1988; his collection has been dispersed.
