Frank H. Stadtmueller
(1861-1919/20)

Frank H. Stadtmueller of Hartford, Connecticut was born in Connecticut in August of 1861, the second son of the mineral dealer Louis Stadtmüller (q.v.) and his wife Phelleppena of New Haven, Connecticut. Frank was listed in the 1880 Census as an "apprentice apothecary," but in 1900 and 1910 was working as a farmer. He was listed in The Naturalists' Directory for 1905 as living in Elmwood, Connecticcut with a mineral collection and a willingness to do exchanges. One of his labels is dated 1919 on the back, but he does not appear on the 1920 Census, suggesting that he died in 1919-1920. Some or all of his collection appears to have been sold to Ward's Natural Science Establishment in Rochester, New York, who resold it with his original labels retained.
