Fred R. Ashman
(1885-<1947)

Raymond Fred Ashman (he went by his middle name) was born in Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut on December 12, 1884, the son of Louisa D. and Frederico L. Ashman, a farmer. Fred was a house carpenter and builder by profession, and lived his whole life in Litchfield County. He was the first selectman from Warren to serve in the local government. He married Catherine S._____ (1821-1961), a teacher. According to his label, he had a private "museum," which may well have been a dedicated small building since he was a builder and could have constructed it himself. He was a field collector, and marked his labels with date a specimen was collected.
