William M. McLaughlin
(1829-    )

Prof. William M. McLaughlin was born in New York in 1829-1830. He married a woman named Mary A., had a daughter named Julia, and taught school in Ontario, New York (1860 census). From at least 1880-1883 and possibly earlier he served as principal of the Sally Lewis Academy in Southington, Connecticut, but in 1883 a new principal was appointed. Some of his labels give his address as "Southington, Conn.," and others give it as "Spencer, Mass."--which is earlier is unknown. Nor is anything of his earlier life known, although in 1850 a William McLaughlin, born in New York in 1829, was incarcerated for grand larceny at the Sing Sing State Prison in Ossining, New York.
