Harry S. Slack
(1907-1997)

Harry S. Slack was born April 24, 1907 in New Jersey, the son of Emma R. and Almon C. Slack, a shift boss at the Ogdensburg, New Jersey zinc mill. As of 1930 the young Harry (age 22) was working in the mill as well, as a blacksmith's apprentice. He eventually began collecting Franklin and Sterling Hill minerals (as evidenced by the label shown here). He died March 5, 1997 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
