 Adamas Lapiday & Gem Shop

Lapidary, gem and mineral dealership at 8391 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio, owned by Clarence Smith, Jr. In the mid-1970's the mineral sales portion of company was managed by Andrew J. Love, a "geologic consultant" and serious mineral collector. The store boasted the "Adamas Museum," displaying the mineral collection of (the late) Clarence Smith, Sr., as well as subsequent additions. Clarence Jr. donated over 900 flats of mineral specimens to Youngstown University in 2004, and part of the collection is now on exhibit there in the Clarence Smith Mineral Hall. The Adamas company was later sold and still exists as a jewelry store, at the same address, under the current name of Adamas Jewelry and Gifts, but no longer sells mineral specimens.
