Otto Kanzler
(ca.1855-ca.1920)

Dr. Otto Kanzler moved from Osnabrück to nearby Bad Rothenfelde, in Lower Saxony, Germany, after obtaining his medical degree, and worked there for the next 40 years, serving as a local sanitation councilor ("Geheim. Sanitätsrat"). He had a particular interest in local geology, minerals and fossils, and was the author of Geologie des Teutoburger Waldes und des Osnings (1920). The Alfred Bauer History Museum in Bad Rothenfelde, has an "Otto Kanzler Room," named for him. There is also a street named after him in Bad Rothenfelde, Otto-Kanzler-Weg.
