Lee Fent Bennett
BENNETT, Lee Fent.

BENNETT, Lee Fent.
(1872 - 1966)

(Born: 22 August 1872; Died: Kenosha, Wisconsin, U.S.A., 25 January 1966) American geologist & mineralogist.

Bennett was an alumnus (1895) as well as a faculty member (1898-1919) of Valparaiso University, where he taught the subjects of geology, zoology and mathematics. In 1919, he became the superintendent of the H.W. Gossard Co. factory in Janesville, Wisconsin. He lived in Janesville until 1928 when he moved to Saginaw, Michigan. He remained there until 1957, when because of poor health he moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin to live with a daughter. An entry in the 1914 yearbook for Valparaiso University says of Bennett: "When Professor Bennett tells a story or joke everybody laughs; not only because they are always good stories well told but because he finds a new story before he tells one. He has the happy faculty of making his work interesting. Nobody ever sleeps in his class ... He is a real friend of the students and besides being a good instructor he is a good all round fellow."

Scarce. An elementary text, describing what the author considers are typical mineral and rock specimens.
