BORCH (Borrichius), Olaus.
(1626 - 1690)

(Born: Noerre Bork, in Ribe, Denmark, 7 April 1626; Died: Copenhagen, Denmark, 13 October 1690) Danish physician.

Borrichius attended the schools of his home town before matriculating at the University of Copenhagen. Eventually he graduated with an M.D. from Angers. Starting in 1660 for six years he travelled and studied through Europe. Borch won fame as physician during a 1654 plaguge epidemic which led to his 1660 appointment as professor ordinary of philology, botany and chemsitry. He became physician to the Royal household.

Rare. A dissertation concerning stones found in nature and in the human body. The respondent was Giuseppe Lanzoni [see note below]. This work originally appeared in Acta Medica, 5 (1680), p. 184-96 but was then published as a separate work.

Giuseppe Lanzoni. (Born: Ferrara, Italy, 1663; Died: Ferrara, Italy, 1730) Italian physician. Lanzoni was a professor at the University of Ferrara. He specialized in pathology and anatomy. He was a member of the Leopoldian-Carolina Academy.
